Kitchen makeover

We didn't realise when we bought this house just how bad the kitchen was.  We saw the view and the deck and I think that blinded us to anything else that we should have noticed!  It didn't take us long to decide that living with the kitchen the way it was for a few years wasn't really an option so in January the old kitchen came out (including asbestos) and the new kitchen started going in..........
Here's the old kitchen with black tiled floor.

This is the view from the living/dining area.  The kitchen is behind that wall.
At the end of January we started putting in the ikea cabinets.

And by Easter we had half a kichen but no stove.

Then at Easter the Master Builder Extraordinaire GFK arrived.  With trusty babysitter G Jops!  They had quite the load!

First the posts went up to support the roof and the plastic to try and control the dust.

Then the awful wall separating the kitchen from the living room came down.

Then there was precision work needed to prepare for the huge beam.
Next the other side of the kichen.
With the most beautiful piece of artwork in our house... the custom made bench top that GFK make from a tree he cut down 20 years ago.

Unfortunately G Jops and GFK had to leave after 10 days of non stop work but the day before they left another beam went up and the 2 ugly posts into the living room came down.
We've been working on it bit by bit and have lots of painting, trim work and finishing to do.  We're pretty happy with how it came out though.  Most importantly it has changed the whole dynamic of the house.  Being in the kitchen is now a great place to be and you no longer feel like you have to go and spend some time in prison just to cook dinner!  We can't thank GFK and G Jops enough.

Tasmanian visitors

Zoe, Paul and Liam came to visit us just after Xmas.  We had a great 4 days together and the kids had a blast.  The boys all went on the Puffing Billy steam train.

Na night Elmo

Molly spends hours on end patting her toys to sleep and singing to them. If you listen closely you'll hear three different songs.

Too much going on

Excuses, excuses... but seriously, there has been too much going on here.  It seems that whenever I have 5 mins spare I have a list of 20 things that I should be doing in that time.  I was in a shop a few weeks ago and the woman was doing one of those adult colouring books and she said that it was so great because sometimes she just has nothing to do and colouring helps to fill the time!  I nearly died of jealously right then and there!
So here are a few snaps of what has been going on.
These roses are right outside our kitchen window!
These two are finally starting to play together... sometimes!

Molly loves her new water play table from Pip, Paul and Sebastian.  And also loves finding random hats to put on!
A few weeks back Shane and I removed part of our roof and insulated. Some friends came and looked after the kids and an electrician changed the lights and put ceiling fans in.  It was quite an undertaking and took all day and the worst part is that we've got about 4 times the same area to do.  But that can wait.
There are a lot less requests for costumes these days.  I think Clayface is the only one I've made in the past few months.
Waiting for the train to go to the city for our annual Santa trip.

Lego Christmas tree in Fed Square.
Saying hi to Santa.  Poor AJ did not think he was cool.
The king parrot that came into our living room.
Ninjago lego for Christmas from Pip, Paul and Sebastian.  Molly has the whole thing a bit confused and runs around with the Star Wars light saber yelling 'Ninjago'!
Loving the new easel from G Jops, GFK, Zoe, Paul and Liam.
Tring to eat donuts from a string  without using  your hands at a birthday party.
Eli loving his Star Wars lego from Yiayia.
Daddy and Molly at the Belgrave music festival.
 More cute sibling play!
Molly trying beetroot for the first time.  She didn't actually eat any but had a lovely time all the same.
